Farm to Institution Manager

alisha@ruralaction.org

Alisha joined Rural Action in September 2023 as the Farm to Institution Manager. She is passionate about restoring reciprocity with the earth, supporting local farmworkers and food producers, and building healthy communities of care.

Her position before Rural Action was working on a farm using organic and regenerative practices in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Before this she had lived in Columbus, OH, for ten years and her work there included positions at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the YMCA of Central Ohio, and serving as an AmeriCorps member with Homeport, an affordable housing agency. She has also supported the work of local community groups including Central Ohio Housing Action Network (COHAN) and the Resist Line 3 Media Collective through helping with their social media presence on instagram as well as the on the ground work.

She is not unfamiliar with the Southeast Ohio region though, as she grew up in Circleville, OH, and then attended college at Ohio University in Athens, graduating with her bachelors degree in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations, and specializations in English and Art History.

Alisha is interested in topics that include herbalism, land/water defense, fiber/natural materials art, and poetry. When not at work she can most likely be found crocheting, reading, posting on instagram, tending to plants, or out on a walk with her partner and their sweet pup Sally.
