Rural Action’s Sunday Creek Watershed, Monday Creek Watershed, and Environmental Education Programs offer four summer day camps each year. The camp is a week of fun-filled adventure for children: exploring streams, engaging in service projects, learning about the environment through games, visiting with area professionals, and eating freshly prepared local food!

Spring Break Day Camp: Tuesday, March 10, 2020 | AGES 7-10

Our Spring Break Day Camp is a one-day camp designed to break the doldrums of winter. For this camp, we venture to one of our favorite haunts for outdoor exploration. Last year, we went to Wildcat Hollow, where we played games, learned, explored, and most importantly, had fun! If your child (ages 7-10) needs a break from being indoors all winter, send them our way!

The cost is $15 per child, and scholarships are available. For more info, contact Nate Good at nate@ruralaction.org, or call 740-767-2225. Once you register, you will receive a waiver that you must sign and return to Rural Action before the start of the camp.

Sunday Creek Watershed Camp: Trimble, OH | AGES 7-13

Week 1: June 8-12, 2020
Week 2: June 22-26, 2020

Get ready for another year that gets campers wet and muddy. Campers will swim with crawdads in swimming holes, turn over rocks to find salamanders, and learn how to build different types of shelters such as the lean-to. Families are invited to join us on Friday at Burr Oak Beach to celebrate the week with a cookout and swimming.

The cost is $75 per camper and scholarships are available. For more info, contact Nate Good at nate@ruralaction.org, or call 740-767-2225. Once you register, you will receive a waiver that you must sign and return to Rural Action before the start of the camp.

Junior Counselor Positions available at Sunday Creek Camp

Do you still want to attend camp? There is an opportunity for previous graduates to help lead our summer camp and take part in all the fun! If your child graduated from the camp but still wants to be involved, please contact Nate at nate@ruralaction.org, or call 740-767-2225.

Monday Creek Watershed Camp: New Straitsville, OH | AGES 8-12

Monday Creek Kids Camp will feature field trips where campers will canoe, swim, learn fishing skills, explore the natural world by looking for critters and recording what they find, crafts, and get to tour the area’s treatment systems for Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). The week will also include favorite activities like catching macroinvertebrates (crawdads and the like), wilderness survival skills, hiking, and archery.

Camp will meet at the shelter house in the New Straitsville Veterans Memorial Park. Pick up will be there as well. Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily and transportation will be provided for field trips.

A detailed schedule and more need-to-know information will be sent out closer to the date of the camp. The cost of camp is $50 per camper.

Once you register, you will receive a waiver that you must sign and return to Rural Action before the start of the camper on the first day of camp.
