Fall Watershed Tour (Tuscarawas River)

Rural Action’s Huff Run Watershed Team will host a Fall Watershed Tour focusing on the southern part of the Tuscarawas River Watershed from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.

This fun and educational event will be a great way for the whole family to learn about the effects that residents and companies within a watershed can have on stream health and water quality. Rural Action members will be stationed at each tour stop to talk about the significance of each location on the overall health of the watershed and to answer questions.

The tour will have five stops total. The first stop will focus on abandoned coal mines. The second stop will teach participants about dams on our rivers and streams. The third stop will focus on erosion, mussels, and farm aid. The fourth stop is about a boat ramp and water trail. The fifth stop is about industrial pollution in the Tuscarawas River.

The first 20 participants who visit two out of the five stops on this drive-it-yourself tour will get a food voucher for the Tusky Deli. Anyone who visits all five stops will receive a complimentary Rural Action membership!

Since each participant will receive a detailed map marking the tour stops, registration is required. Visit ruralaction.org/falltour to register. Masks will be required when participants are outside of their cars and interacting with Rural Action staff.
