Public library to expand electric bike rentals, expanding public’s access to sustainable transportation

ATHENS, Ohio — Join Rural Action, the Athens Public Library, and our community on May 20 from 10 a.m. to noon as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Book-a-Bike program!

Hear speakers who are on the frontline of sustainable energy and transportation efforts in our community, like long-time cycling industry and electric micro-mobility leader Matt Irish, Madison Donohue of Appalachian Understories, and more.

Following the event, join us and our friends for a community bike ride (approximately seven miles) to Eclipse Company Store in The Plains (approximately seven miles) following the event!

In observance of the 10-year anniversary of the Book-a-Bike program, which offers reliable bikes to the public for free, the library will be adding two new electric bikes for public use.
