Appalachian Green Teachers Conference returns for 10th year

GLOUSTER, Ohio — The Appalachian Green Teachers Conference reaches a milestone this year with its 10th annual iteration, to be held this October in Glouster.

The two-day, hands-on environmental education conference for teachers and non-formal educators will take place Thursday, Oct. 26–Friday, Oct. 27 at Burr Oak Lodge and Conference Center, 10660 Burr Oak Lodge Road.

Educators from around the region will participate in networking, nature walks, presentations, and more than a dozen expert-led workshops, including individuals from Rural Action’s own Environmental Education program, the Ohio Division of Natural Resources, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and more.

Workshops will cover environmental education topics for all ages, including pre-K. Educators will also learn about how to teach students about climate change, astronomy, Indigenous knowledge, macroinvertebrates, the therapeutic properties of nature, and more. Workshops will also cover expanding classroom resources, grant writing, and creating classroom culture.
