SES Team to Speak at Sustainability Summit
Rural Action’s Sustainable Energy Solutions team and SOPEC will be among the featured speakers at the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit on June 16 in Cincinnati.
The event, hosted by Green Umbrella, will focus on emergent strategies for an equitable, climate-prepared region. Sustainable Energy Solutions Director Sarah Conley-Ballew, VISTA member Jacob Richard, and SOPEC will discuss how building a robust, sustainable economy requires innovation and collaboration from nonprofits and local governments.
SOPEC, a council of governments, will discuss creative solutions using Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) as a foundation for sustainability action in its member communities. SOPEC will highlight the Athens Carbon Fee, USDA REDA program, and other CCA-led initiatives.
Jacob and Sarah will focus on several initiatives to scale-up clean energy adoption, highlighting projects including Appalachian Clean Transportation, Solarize Appalachian Ohio, and Growing Local Solar with Agrivoltaics.
The summit will be held at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. Registered guests can attend in-person or tune in virtually to a live stream.
