Dry Kiln Workshop To Feature Business Tips
In collaboration with Hocking College and Harry Watt of NC State Extension, we’re hosting a small dry kiln business workshop at Hocking College on July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This workshop is a combination of discussions with industry professionals and the audience plus demos of a sawmill and dry kiln. The workshop covers six hours of focused attention to the details of how to dry lumber in a dry kiln and how to operate a profitable business.
The business discussions involve business management, marketing, drying different lumber-based products, creating schedules, current kilns available from dry kiln manufacturers, the process of drying/equalizing/conditioning lumber, solar kilns, dehumidification kilns, traditional hot water and steam kilns, vacuum kilns and air drying.
The workshop costs $30 and lunch is included. It will be held at 17690 Sylvania Avenue in Nelsonville.
