Deadline Extended for Neighbor Loaves Recipe Grant Applications
The deadline to apply for Neighbor Loaves [& Meals] recipe grants has been extended to April 15. Professional chefs and bakers in Ohio can apply to receive up to $250 toward the development of recipes in which 50% or more of the ingredients are local grain, bean, or nut ingredients.
Grants will range from $75-$250 depending on production capacity, access to a commercial kitchen, and participation in an event to share your recipe with others.
Here are a few guidelines for submissions:
- A unit cost that’s under $10, depending on the product.
- Your ability and interest in producing a minimum of 15 units at once.
- Recipes for savory or low sugar breakfast muffins, hand pies, energy bars, simple meals, pizza, and side dishes are of particular interest.
Rural Action’s Neighbor Loaves project partners with local eateries that offer bread and meals using at least 50% local grain, bean and/or nuts to food access programs. Participating businesses sell their offerings to customers, whose purchases are then donated to food access programs.
