For Immediate Release
The Plains, Ohio — Rural Action is excited to unveil and celebrate Athens Public Transit’s Electric Vehicle Shuttle Bus. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Athens Community Center parking lot.
The event will include an unveiling of the bus wrap designed by Passion Works and art students from Federal Hocking Middle School, a charging demonstration, and opportunities to talk to the people on the frontline of the clean energy revolution in southeastern Ohio!
Take a free ride on the new EV bus, and enjoy a dance party in the parking lot with live music from DJ Muchi Nochi. Registration for this event is not required and it is free and open to the public. Thank you to our partners at the US Department of Energy, SOPEC, Clean Fuels Ohio, HAPCAP, and Passion Works Studio.
The all-electric shuttle bus was purchased by Athens Public Transit, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, as part of a grant-funded initiative launched with support from the US Department of Energy, in collaboration with Rural Action, the City of Athens, The Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC). Known as ROADMAP, this three-year project examines the barriers to rural vehicle electrification across transportation sectors, and identifies solutions to increase awareness and adoption of Electric Vehicles (EV’s) in Appalachian Ohio.
