“Being a graduate student at Ohio University the past three years and a mother to small children in Athens, I have connected to the OHIO community as well as the local Athens community. Serving through Americorps has allowed me to connect beyond my immediate family and the communities I have already engaged with. As a storyteller by training and experience, my goal is to use communication as a means for social change. Serving through Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps and Ohio’s Winding Road, I am, even throughout the pandemic, connecting with the resilient people in our region and sharing in telling their stories and experiences.”
— Delia Palmisano, Ohio’s Hill Country Heritage Area/Winding Road
National Service with the Appalachian Ohio Restore Corps is a way to “get your hands dirty” while helping local communities. The skills and connections you gain will stay with you for the rest of your life.
