This month, Shagbark Seed & Mill donated nearly 500 pounds of organic heirloom polenta to food access programs! Combined with your ongoing purchases from Village Bakery, Casa Nueva, Athens Bread Company and Kindred Market, our Neighbor program added over $1000 to local food access programs this month. Shagbark expects to launch the Neighbor purchasing option for products like tortillas, polenta, cereal, and more through their website by the end of October.

Want to help? Just head to the websites below and purchase a Neighbor Loaves recipe from participating businesses. Community Food Initiatives and the Athens Food Pantry will then distribute the bread, bean burgers, and chili to pantries, libraries, the donation station and senior centers.

And if you are ready to go all in, you can set up a weekly purchase at any of the participating businesses and help us reach our $10,000 goal this year!

Neighbor Loaves & Meals participating businesses use at least 50% locally grown organic grain, nuts and/or beans in their recipes. As more local eateries and bakeries join Neighbor Loaves & Meals, we’ll add details to our website!
