Amy Lipka returned to Rural Action in 2021 as the Development Director. She began her non-profit career in 1998 when she joined Rural Action as an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with the Arts & Cultural Heritage Program. After her VISTA service, Amy stayed on staff at Rural Action as Community Organizer/Program Coordinator for the Community and School Connection Program, which later became the Ohio Fair Schools Campaign, a statewide effort to promote quality public education. This work had a deep impact on Amy and the early experience of organizing grassroots community projects has developed into a career of diverse non-profit experience. She is driven by the social aspect of working together towards a common goal, especially in making connections, developing relationships and sparking excitement for meaningful work. She formerly served as the Director of Adult Education for Live Healthy Appalachia.

Amy graduated from Kent State University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Art History. She also holds an Associate in Geographic Information and Global Positioning Systems from Hocking College. Amy is an animal lover and foodie and is always grateful for the opportunity to have a good laugh. She also loves hiking in the winter, kayaking (especially with her dad), swimming, trying new recipes and spending quality time at home.
