Explore Wayne National Forest With ‘Storied Hills’
The Wayne National Forest is vast — almost a quarter-million acres spread across 12 counties and organized into three districts. It’s an incredible resource, but where to start exploring?
The USDA Forest System has created “Storied Hills: The Wayne National Forest,” a resource you can use as a home base for your meandering. This “story map” explains the history of the Wayne and provides suggestions for outdoor excursions, from Meada Road Grassland in the Athens Unit to the White Pine Plantations in the Marietta Unit to the Bluegrass Ridge Oak Barrens in the Ironton Unit.
Even if you think you know the Wayne, you might find a few new ideas here …
