Title: Upcycle Ohio: Materials Processing Specialist
Department: Social Enterprise
Reports To: Upcycle Ohio Manager
Supervises: N/A
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week, non-exempt, 6 month term
Pay Range: $13/hour

Job Summary

This full-time position assists in the daily operations of the UpCycle Ohio Thrift Store, a Rural Action (RA) social enterprise located in Athens. Under the direction of the UpCycle Ohio Thrift Store Manager, the Materials Processing Specialist will sort and process donations, stock the sales floor, assist customers, and generate social media content. The Materials Processing Specialist works to assure reclaimed materials are put to their highest and best use through the regional circular economy. This individual will maintain a professional attitude reflecting the store’s commitment to our mission of inclusivity and equity.

Essential Functions of this Position

  • Engage in personal, professional, and sector-based continuing education
  • Help price merchandise, process donations, and merchandise the store
  • Coordinate with local donors and clients
  • Provide outstanding customer service, highlighting the zero waste ethos
  • Operate cash registers
  • Provide support and coverage to Community Makerspace
  • Other duties as assigned
