Title: Community Makerspace Production Associate
Department: Social Enterprise
Reports To: Community Makerspace Manager
Supervises: N/A
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week, non-exempt, 6 month term
Pay Range: $13/hour

Job Summary

This full-time position assists in daily operations at the Community Makerspace, a Rural Action (RA) Social Enterprise in Athens, Ohio. Under the direction of the Community Makerspace Manager, this person assists with daily operations and works closely with the staff at Community Makerspace and UpCycle Ohio Thrift Store to assist customers, generate social media content, process donations, and stock the sales floor. This Community Makerspace Production Associate works to create opportunities for the development of upcycled products. The Community Makerspace Production Associate collaborates with the UpCycle, Community Makerspace, and Zero Waste teams to assure reclaimed materials are put to their highest and best use. This individual must maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting the organization’s commitment to our mission.

Essential Functions of this Position

  • Engage in personal, professional, and sector-based continuing education
  • Produce upcycled products from materials reclaimed from the waste stream
  • Help coordinate with local donors, makers, and menders
  • Provide outstanding customer service, highlighting the zero waste ethos
  • Operate cash registers
  • Other duties as assigned
