Title: Chesterhill Produce Auction Associate

Pay Range: $13/hour

Job Summary

This full-time position assists with conducting daily operations of the Chesterhill Produce Auction (CPA), a Rural Action (RA) social enterprise located in Morgan County. The CPA has been a core part of RA’s Sustainable Agriculture and Social Enterprise programs and works to connect local farmers and producers to regional markets. In 2012, the CPA expanded to include the sales of wood products, small livestock, and other local assets in Morgan and surrounding counties. The CPA associate will assist with the maintenance of auction operations and equipment, provide customer service to producers and buyers, and engage with farmers and community members through CPA programming.

Essential Functions of this Position

  • Engage in personal, professional, and sector-based continuing education
  • Assist in maintaining the 10 acre CPA site and equipment to ensure a safe commercial facility: including the refrigerated truck, Cool Bot Unit, outbuildings, walnut huller, irrigation, and any other infrastructure to be developed or purchased
  • Assist staff, sellers, and buyers with (un)loading, sorting, and tagging auction items
  • Assist with adherence to food safety and Good Agricultural Practices policies
  • Other duties as assigned
