Location: Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch

Google Calendar iCal File Export

We will begin with a walking tour and overview of bison, our grazing system, bison handling and the “bison advantage” (reasons why YOU might want to raise bison). We will discuss Cherokee Valley’s marketing strategies as well as our blossoming agritourism venture. At noon we will enjoy Cherokee Valley’s grass-fed bison burgers grilled over a wood fire in our creekside picnic area. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature in community with fellow farm enthusiasts.

Carie and Jarrod Starr have been raising bison on their multi-generational farm in Thornville, Ohio since 2008. They began with a dream of raising grass-fed bison for their family and community and it has grown from there to include specialty grocery stores, food trucks and online farmer’s markets throughout Ohio. In addition to grass-fed bison they offer agritourism opportunities through tours, workshops, scouting groups and on-farm stays in their authentic tipis.
