Want to get your children hooked on fishing? Join Rural Action for Youth Fishing Day on Saturday, July 24 at the Upstream Rock Run Reclamation Site in Perry County.

Kids under 16 can fish free without a license, and the first 25 to register will get a free fishing pole and tackle box. Anglers 16 and over also can participate but will need a valid fishing license and aren’t eligible for free fishing gear or contest prizes.

Registration will be on-site from 9 – 9:30 a.m. with the fishing beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon. The event will feature a casting contest as well as prizes for the biggest and smallest fish caught (based on length). The prizes will be awarded at 11:45 a.m.

Youth Fishing Day is free and open to the public. A portion of this event was funded by the Ora E. Anderson Conservation Fund for Appalachian Ohio.
