Learn how the Ohio & Erie Canalway altered Tuscarawas County’s environment, economy, and culture during a Historical Canal Hike on Saturday, Nov. 20. The hike is sponsored by Rural Action and Appalachian Understories.

This 2-mile hike on the towpath is ideal for participants of all ages and will start at 10 a.m. at the canal access point in Bolivar beside Fort Laurens. Dan Rice, President of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, will provide insight into this engineering marvel along the way.

The hike costs $20 and will not require masks since it is an outdoor event. Participants are asked to be respectful of each other’s comfort levels regarding masks and social distancing. The hike will cover easy to moderate terrain. Please let us know of any accessibility accommodations we can provide.
