Ramps, also known as wild leeks, are an edible forest herb that are often the first greens to emerge in the spring. Ramps thrive in rich forest soils throughout much of the Appalachian region. Their flavor is unique, often described as a mix between garlic and onion, which is why they’re becoming increasingly popular in the commercial culinary industry. People — especially Appalachians — have been enjoying ramps for centuries. Ramps are typically harvested from wild populations but can be sustainably cultivated in your forest.
Join Rural Action for our virtual ramp cultivation workshop. You’ll learn about the history, cultivation, and many uses of this important and delicious native plant.
Visit the registration page to register. Once registered, you’ll receive a Zoom link to join the webinar.
