Last week, I walked through the woods in a long sleeved t-shirt, feeling myself sweat in the 60 degree sun. If I thought it was warm enough to be out and about, maybe some animals might think so, too. I flipped over a log to find a red-backed salamander like the one pictured, the first one I have seen this year! What other animals emerge when the seasons change from winter to spring?
On this week’s virtual field trip, we’ll look for signs of animals waking up for spring together. If you’ve seen animals stirring about in the new warmth this year, bring your stories and observations to share with the rest of us.
You only need to register once for all the winter 2021 field trips. So if you’ve attended a field trip since September, the same link will work through March.
