Susi Acord

Susi Acord first became part of the Rural Action family in 2008 serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member with our Sustainable Forestry Program. After completing a year-long term in a volunteer capacity she officially joined Rural Action as a staff member in 2009 and served as our Sustainable Forestry Program Administrator working in the areas of managed forest carbon offsets, green and regionally oriented (GRO) wood products, and landowner education including topics such as non-timber forest products and oil and gas lease education.

In June of 2014, she moved into her current position as Rural Action’s Media and Communications Manager. In this role, Susi oversees the implementation of Rural Action’s communication plan and adherence of standards across the organization, working with all of Rural Action’s programs to provide clear and consistent messaging about Rural Action’s work. Additionally, Susi coordinates Rural Action’s annual keystone events and provides graphic design and marketing support to Rural Action programs.

Prior to her work with Rural Action, Susi was a store trainer and educator for Whole Foods Market from 2003-2008 were she worked with 10 departments to develop and execute training in the areas of food safety, workplace safety, product knowledge, and career development for over 200 employees. She is originally from Miami, Florida and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
