AOZWI’s 2013-2014 AmeriCorps Members!

 CaitlinCaitlin Garrity

Caitlin is a Columbus, Ohio native and recent graduate of Ohio University where she studied art history. She started serving as an Americorps member with the Zero Waste Program in August of 2015. Caitlin is serving with the Pledge Program where she helps businesses and non-profits in the greater Southeast Ohio region better understand their waste stream, divert waste from the landfill, and reduce their environmental impact in the process.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about sustainability through the zero waste lens while becoming more integrated in the community of like-minded people accomplishing so much for the Athens area.”

ShannonShannon Pratt-Harrington

Shannon Pratt-Harrington was born and raised in Athens, Ohio. In 2015 she graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, IN where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Languages and Linguistics. She joined the Zero Waste team in August of 2015 as an Americorps Member to specialize in dumpsite cleanups and managing smaller, local zero waste events.

“Everyday I find out new information about how much is wasted in our world. Working with Zero Waste has helped me ignore convention and try to repair, reuse and re-purpose things society tells me to throw out!”

Laura Diaclaurao

Laura is originally from New Hampshire, but grew up in the Athens community. Laura recently graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in teaching and a master’s degree in linguistics and is excited to apply her expertise to the Zero Waste Program at Rural Action. Her background in teaching in different situations and her dedication to achieving zero waste make her the perfect person for the job.

“I applied because the type of work Rural Action does is what I’m passionate about. I hope to contribute by bringing in my teaching experience to further develop the educational programming that zero waste does, and to bring positive energy to the work everyone else is doing.”
