Luke A. Black first volunteered with Rural Action’s Zero Waste program in 2011 at the Nelsonville Music Fest. Two years later he joined our Zero Waste team as an AmeriCorps member. During his year of service, he helped develop and grow Rural Action’s business waste assessment project helping to reduce the waste of many local businesses. Before coming to Rural Action, Luke held positions related to IT at Ohio University and Ohio University Credit Union. Additionally he spent time working working with local food initiatives at Village Bakery and Whole Foods Market. In his current position he co-manages Zero Waste Event Productions, a social enterprise of Rural Action that is tasked with reducing waste at events. When not working he enjoys road rides and tours by bicycle with over 10,000 miles since 2008 on his Long Haul Trucker. Also he enjoys trail riding, cooking, and DIY fixing and repair.
