Social Enterprise Director

Rural Action is seeking a highly organized individual with great business sense to act as its Social Enterprise Director in 2016, a position funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission under the 2015 POWER Initiative. This one-year position will provide tremendous networking opportunities in Appalachian Ohio and across Central Appalachia. The person hired will have a passion to grow social enterprises and support local entrepreneurs in three main sectors – wood products, food systems, and zero waste. He or she will bring creativity, professionalism, and cooperation to the job. The person in this position will work closely with Rural Action program directors and staff to provide business analysis and support to two main social enterprises at Rural Action: Zero Waste Event Productions and the Chesterhill Produce Auction. He or she will also assist small businesses to find their place within local value chains, assess financial feasibility, identify markets, and create business models for growth and stability.
