How to Apply to OSRC

The 2019-20 Ohio Stream Restore Corps term runs from August 16th, 2019 to August 15th, 2018. The VISTA term runs from August 5th, 2019 to August 5th, 2020.

To Apply
  1. Learn about the differences between Rural Action’s VISTA and OSRC opportunities.
  2. Go to My AmeriCorps and click “Apply to Serve” to create an account.
  3. You will need to build the 8-part application and select 2 references. Do this all in one sitting! Consider answering the questions on a word and copy/pasting, to avoid timeout issues.
  4. Once you have your application, click “Search Listings” (starting February 5th)
  5. Type “Rural Action” in the “Program Name” box.
    • You will see one posting for Ohio Stream Restore Corps and multiple postings for several Rural Action VISTA positions. Apply to OSRC all at once, but open each VISTA posting and apply to them separately, based on your interest.
  6.  Click “Apply” and follow the instructions.
Tips for a great AmeriCorps application:
  • Make sure both of your references have sent in their forms before you submit the application to us. If references come in after submission, AmeriCorps program staff may not see them until they manually check.
  • DOUBLE CHECK that you have the reference email address right. Inform your references you are using them!
  • Think about the program you are applying to. How can you tailor your motivational statement to show you fit in this organization? Have you listed all your relevant skills? Note that you can create multiple applications in the my.americorps portal.
  • Start early! The AmeriCorps application is made up of 8 parts. You can save and come back to it, but make sure to leave yourself enough time to finish the application and submit it before the deadline (interviews begin April 1st, applications are accepted until positions fill or August 5th).
