Dan Vorisek

Dan joins the Rural Action team as the Entrepreneurial Communities Coach. He has worked in the outdoor recreation and education field since 1994, with an emphasis on adventure based programs. His experiences range from the indoor classroom of public schools to outdoor education centers and leading wilderness trip in the northeast and upper Midwest backcountry settings. Dan has been involved at many levels of programming as both a field instructor and administrator, and most recently has returned to Ohio after his work as a faculty member at SUNY Delhi College of Technology.

His work with community development led him through Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville, NY where he co-designed and launched the Newark Partnership for Families initiative, and led the coordination of recreation and wellness theme weekends that served nearly 6,000 youth and family participants annually. He also provided the leadership for club members and volunteers as a county 4-H youth development director for Penn State Cooperative Extension. With his passion for community improvement through adventure-based training, Dan has led team building workshops with clients that include Leadership Athens, the Ohio University Credit Union, Rocky Boots, Key Bank, Lockheed Martin, and General Electric. Dan completed degrees at Penn State University (BS Agriculture Education) and Minnesota State University (MS Experiential Education), and most recently finished his MBA at Ohio University. Dan presently lives in Amesville, and is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys being out with his wife and their three children hiking, biking, gardening, and fishing in the many beautiful settings of Appalachia Ohio.
