Brian Vadakin

Brian Vadakin is the Chief Program Officer at Rural Action. Brian is responsible for leading and managing Rural Action’s team of program directors, helping to implement the organization’s mission through its seven sector-based programs. Brian also leads the organization’s grant-writing efforts in partnership with staff.

Brian has worked with Rural Action as a staff member since 2016, previously serving as Social Enterprise Coordinator. In that role, he provided business development assistance to Rural Action’s two social enterprises—the Chesterhill Produce Auction and Zero Waste Event Productions LLC—and connected Southeast Ohio’s social entrepreneurs with technical assistance and investment to grow the social enterprise ecosystem. Previously, Brian served as a U.S. Fulbright research grantee in Costa Rica studying rural tourism and agricultural cooperatives. He holds a B.A. from Ohio University. Brian also serves as the President of the Board of Directors for ReUse Industries, an Athens-based non-profit organization.
