Perry County: Corning

The Corning Community Mural site was chosen in August 2001 and the mural was dedicated November 11, 2002 in commemoration of Veteran's Day. The muralist was John Miller, art teacher in the Miller school system.

The American Legion Building is at 1 West Main, Corning, just off SR 13 in southern Perry County.

The completed mural installation is on West Main in Corning, Ohio (Rt 155) and is visible from SR 13, which runs paralell to the railroad in the foreground.

The Corning Mural includes larger-than-life figures representing branches of the armed services. The mural was painted outdoors on large panels and assembled on the brick wall of Corning's American Legion Building.

Corning has several active community centers: SPICE, a small business incubator for Southern Perry County; the Holland Center, a community technology lab directly across the street from the American Legion Building, and the Corning-Monroe Civic Center, Corning's old high school transformed into quarters for village officials, community events and historical society.
