The Harmar Mural inspired Rural Action's Mural Corridor.

Geoff Schenkel, muralist, worked with Harmar Elementary School students and teachers and various community groups in Marietta to realize the mural, which covers four sides of a pump house at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. It is located at Harmar Elementary School, 100 Fort Square, Marietta, Ohio. It was begun in 1993 and dedicated April 7, 1995.

Sandra Sleight-Brennan recorded several interviews with Geoff Schenkel and the students and teachers at Harmar Elementary. Along with more photos of the mural, the interviews are archived as streaming audio (in RealAudio format) at the Community Murals Project on the Ohio University Telecommunications Department website.
