A food system refers to all of the activities and processes that keep us as a community and a region fed. That is the growing, the processing, the shipping, the buying and selling, and the consuming and disposing of our food. Rural Action Sustainable Agriculture works to develop a more localized food system as a means to strengthen our region and our communities. We work with many partners both regionally and nationally, who are involved in many aspects of this endeavor. These aspects include Food Security, Proximity, Self Reliance and Sustainability. From facilitating the development of a rural farmers market, to working with entrepreneurs to develop a produce auction, or to referring clients to a joint use kitchen facility, our goals remain the same; a strong and just local food system.
